  • Work Location: NeuroRehab Services, Lewiston, Maine

1) Provides evaluation and treatment to individuals receiving brain injury rehabilitation services who demonstrate needs in the area of motor functioning.

  • Conducts individual and group occupational therapy sessions.
  • Designs, constructs and implements special materials, equipment and individualized person-centered therapeutic rehabilitation programs to help overcome barriers and enhance independence and quality of life.
  • Produces accurate and timely clinical, billing, administrative and other documentation as required.

2) Represents the Agency in all interactions with other members of the Goodwill community and with the general public, supporting the agency Vision of creating sustainable communities that thrive through the fullest participation of their diverse residents.

Essential Functions:

Communication:

  • Conducts individual and group physical therapy sessions.
  • Coordinates participation of service recipients in sensorimotor, educational, recreational, and social activities designed to help them develop or regain physical functioning or adjust to disabilities.
  • Evaluates progress of service recipients and adjusts treatment plans in accordance with service recipient’s capabilities, needs, and interests.
  • Provides practice in functional, pre-vocational, vocational, home management skills, and activities of daily living.

Knowledge:

  • Obtains specialized medical/social history through interview or review of clients’ case records; selects and administers assessment and evaluation instruments to determine service recipients’ capabilities and barriers in such areas as motor skills, reflex development, self-help skills, personal-social skills, perception, cognition, sensory integration, range of motion, muscle strength and coordination.
  • Seeks opportunities to develop skills, knowledge, and programming. Keeps abreast of current developments in field to update job skills and knowledge and maintains all necessary certifications and meets licenser requirements.

Administration:

  • Prepares findings, diagnostic impressions, diagnosis, and recommendations. Presents information, written and verbal, to team members, service recipients, family members, payors, and other stakeholders in a manner that is understandable and helpful.
  • Designs, constructs and implements special materials, equipment and individualized person-centered therapeutic rehabilitation programs to help overcome barriers and enhance independence and quality of life.
  • Produces accurate and timely clinical, billing, administrative and other documentation as required.

Financial:

  • Achieves the billable hours as specified in the target.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice Physical Therapy in the state of Maine
  • Valid driver’s license permitting operation of a vehicle in the State of Maine; safe driving record
  • Reliable transportation and automobile insurance that meets state minimum requirements
  • Criminal background check that meets Agency standards

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One+ years of experience working as a Physical Therapist
  • Experience working with Acquired Brain Injuries
