POSITION SUMMARY: The major job responsibilities of this position
are: leadership, quality improvement, orientation and training, drug
distribution, human resources and projects. The pharmacy technician
supervisor directly supervises the pharmacy technicians. The supervisor
is accountable for managing the day to day activities of the technician
staff, designing and maintaining workflow, providing staff development
and education, and evaluating the level of technician performance. The
technician supervisor, under the general supervision of a licensed
pharmacist, will assist in the various activities of the pharmacy
department. The technician supervisor functions in accordance with
standard written procedures, guidelines, and state and federal
regulations.MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: Associate's degree or higher,
Pharmacist Technician Board Certification, Must be licensed as a
Pharmacy Technician through the State of Maine: Department of
Professional and Financial Regulation – Board of
PharmacyPREFERED EDUCATION: Bachelor's
DegreePREFERED EXPERIENCE: Successful candidates will have had prior
leadership and hospital pharmacy
experienceOTHER SKILLS REQUIRED: Computer competency is preferred as well as
knowledge of the metric system and ability to perform simple math
calculations. Candidate must be able to operate telephone equipment,
photocopier, fax machine and Microsoft Office applications including
Excel and Outlook. A successful candidate is able to prioritize
workflow, demonstrate successful use of critical thinking and problem
solving skills and exemplify integrity and flexibility in changes of
shift or workflow. Must exhibit a caring attitude toward patients,
co-workers, and other customers and work cooperatively with
health-system and pharmacy staff.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to stand for long periods of
time and withstand extended periods of walking (up to 8 hours per
shift). Successful candidate must also have the ability to lift up to 40
pounds and perform repetitive movements in operating and refilling
Talyst and Pyxis technology systems.WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to function independently in a
pressure-filled environment while working as a member of a team. A
successful Pharmacy Supervisor candidate would demonstrate workflow
prioritization and have high standards for quality and accuracy of work
performed. .
