Position Located in either Bangor and EllsworthMission StatementIs to enhance the clinical care delivery systems within EMHS by

providing cost-effective, integrated support services for EMHS members;

pursuing profitable, sustainable growth opportunities in both healthcare

and non-healthcare markets; and creating and delivering new products and

services that provide a tangible direct benefit to EMHS.Positions StatementPositions require flexibility, regular attendance, the understanding

receptive to additional responsibilities that may be reasonably assigned

by the Supervisor and the knowledge that processes are subject to change

per organizational growth.Position SummaryEmergency Medical Technicians (EMT) are skilled in patient assessment,

airway management, CPR, automatic external defibrillation, oxygen

delivery, dressings and hemorrhage control, splinting, spinal

immobilization, childbirth, lifting and moving patients, and

extrication. Our EMTs have the opportunity to use their skills in both a

routine transport and emergent setting.QualificationsHigh School Diploma/GEDSuccessful completion of EMT training courseCurrently licensed or licensable in Maine as an EMTCurrent Health Care Provider CPR certificationActive, unrestricted, Maine driver's licenseInsurable by auto insurance carrierAVOC within 6 months of hireCurrent BTLS, PHTLS, or other approved trauma trainingExperience/Skill RequirementsPre-hospital EMS experience preferred.Must be familiar with computer useMust have the ability to remain calm in dynamic situations: ability to

be unaffected by loud noises and flashing lights; ability to perform

efficiently throughout the entire work shift without interruption.Must have the ability to efficiently interview patients, family, and

bystanders.Must have the ability to interpret written, oral, and diagnostic form

instructions.Must have the ability to read English language, manuals, road maps,

accurate discern street signs and address numbers; ability to calculate

weight and volume ratios.Must have the ability to communicate in English with co-workers,

patients, health professionals, and others.Must demonstrate competency in: assessing patient, handling emergencies

utilizing Basic Life Support equipment and procedures; have the ability

to perform CPR, control of hemorrhage, non-invasive shock treatment,

fracture and spinal stabilization, manage environmental emergencies,

emergency childbirth, operation of the semi-automatic defibrillator,

delivery of oxygen.Must be able to perform advanced airway control; IV/IO therapy; cardiac

monitoring; defibrillation; and other practices as approved by Maine

EMS.
