Position Requirements
Graduate of accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program
Current, unencumbered Louisiana or compact state nursing license
Current BLS
Minimum 1- year med-surg, clinic or nursing home experience required
Corrections nursing experience a plus
Job descriptionThis is a full-time position for evenings and weekends at Bossier Maximum Correctional Facility. Thequalified nurse will possess excellent communication, critical thinking and assessment skills. Will bereliable and punctual as well as able to perform her/his job duties autonomously. Must be assertive,empathetic and able to provide care objectively while serving this special population. Only candidateswith the appropriate experience will be considered for this position. References are required and will bechecked.
Essential Duties
Administer medications and treatments accurately as ordered by the physician and according to allfacility policies and procedures.
Obtain vitals, accurate and thorough medical history and current medication regimen upon intake.
Document completely and concisely all care, interventions and outcomes in appropriate format and onthe appropriate forms.
Collaborate with the physician and other members of the health care team to ensure continuity of care.
