The Acute Care, Orthopedics, Neurology, and Plastic Surgery RN is responsible for delivery of professional nursing care according to the established policies of the department, West Jefferson Medical Center and the Louisiana State Board of Nursing. The Acute Care, Orthopedics, Neurology, and Plastic Surgery RN is a direct patient care provider who demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to acutely ill adult patients with medical, surgical, orthopedic, neurological and plastic surgery needs. Typical direct care patients include those who are at minimal-to-moderate risk and to a large extent care is routine, standardized and outcomes are predictable. The Acute Care, Orthopedics, Neurology and Plastic Surgery RN must also be able to utilize the nursing process to appropriately intervene in the care of medical, surgical, orthopedic, neurology and plastic surgery patients.
