Position Summary:

The primary responsibilities of this role is to lead and manage the inspections and Non Destructive Testing (NDT) on process equipment, atmospheric tanks, pressure vessels, welding applications, secondary containments, piping systems, pressure and vacuum relief devices in accordance with the Mechanical Integrity Program, Process Safety Management, Quality Assurance procedures and regulatory guidelines.

Essential Job Functions:

Manage on-site inspection team and third party sub-contractors to ensure all work is performed by qualified and certified internal and third party contractors to achieve safe, reliable and peak operating efficiencyProvide technical leadership and mentorship to plant inspectors on mechanical integrity requirementsResponsible for managing the mechanical integrity program in accordance with OSHA PSM and recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices including API 510, API 570 and API 580.Develop and maintain equipment hierarchy and asset identification of field equipment, spare equipment inventory, critical equipment, and integrity equipment for Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Risk Based Mechanical Integrity (RBMI) programs and data bases. Confirm equipment assets match P&IDs.Identify and manage Fixed Equipment bad actors listLead failure analysis on stationary equipment and recommend corrective or preventive measures.Develops and maintains comprehensive written Inspection department procedures, guidelines and work instructions.Provide specifications and recommend design modifications for stationary equipment such as pressure vessels, furnaces, heat exchangers, tanks, and piping.Provides support for routine maintenance, unit shutdowns and turnarounds through work scope development. Minimizes non-budgeted, unplanned repairs identified during turnarounds by promoting thorough and well-planned, on-stream inspections prior to turnaround.Participate in designation of Mechanical Integrity critical equipment and in the determination of appropriate inspection and maintenance plans.Expand the implementation of continuous improvement and Risk Based Inspection methodologyServe as materials expert and plant representative for design, construction and implementation of investment projectsWorks closely with Operations, Maintenance, and EHS group to address fixed equipment issuesPerform audits and inspections at contractor shops to ensure quality of new and repaired fixed equipment.Manages fixed equipment data within OE Suites and ensures work process are followedIncrease skill level and obtain qualifications in the mechanical integrity field as requiredAccomplishes maintenance and organization goals and objectives, and meets maintenance financial standards by providing input to the maintenance budget; monitoring expenditures; and identifying variances.Education and Certification:

Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years of experience in a chemical or refining plant or 10+ years of relevant industry experience; refining or chemicalsExperience with reliability practices, mechanical integrity and predictive/ preventative maintenance in a chemical plant or refineryPrevious supervisory experienceAPI 653/API 510/API 570 Certifications RequiredDemonstrated knowledge of welding and NDT methodsKnowledge of API and ASME codes, RBI methodologyProcess Safety Management experienceProject Management experience preferredLicensed Professional Engineer (PE) preferredCompetencies

This position requires an employee to be in an office environment, outside, and exposed to various chemicals and compounds, including fumes and smells, some of them hazardous. During construction, the employee will be required to work in a construction zone with various hazards normally experienced in these environments. The employee may enter confined spaces and work in elevated environments. Employee may experience range of temperatures from -10 degrees F to 100+ degrees F when outside. Employee must be able to wear PPE required by the location. General office noise may be experienced and louder sounds and vibrations when outside. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. All environments are safe with appropriate PPE.
