Baker Concrete Construction, Inc., one of the nation's largest concrete contractors is searching for a Project Engineer. The Project Engineer supports field activities and spends a majority of time working with the Project Manager supporting project administration on multiple small projects, or one medium to large-size projects. Activities include managing the job transition process; and supporting the management of cost and schedule, constructability, technical evaluations, quality, safety, work planning, procurement, contract management, regulatory compliance, etc.Supports Project Manager on the Management of Cost and Schedule: Generates and obtains approvals of monthly billing and earned values. Develops and manages the project schedule on small or mid-sized projects. Analyzes targets and goals, job cost summaries, and other reports. Alerts the Superintendent and Project Manager of project impact relating to resource management, crew make-up/size, etc. Generates and obtains approval of the initial budget and subsequent updates, and reviews weekly job cost summaries and advises the Project Manager. Generates estimates of change orders and may interface with pre-construction on original bids. Collaborates with pre-construction and the project team to manage the job transition process, communicate project requirements, and develop the initial procurement plans, budgets, etc. Generates material quantity take-offs, scoping documents, terms and conditions, delivery, etc. as applicable to support the procurement process. Generates requests for proposal(s), solicits and reviews quotations, and recommends a procurement decision to Project Manager. Prepares field purchase orders for standard purchase packages, and generates and obtains approval of Major Purchase Orders. Gathers and roughs-in monthly financial reports, and participates in the project financial reviews. Works with the Project Manager to approve and code project invoices Supports Project Engineering and Quality: Generates and obtains approval of technical records such as constructability reports, RFI's, inspection records, work packages and deviation reports Manages the submittal process on the project. Coordinates with the Superintendent, Field Project Engineer, and Line and Grade to generate required as-built records. Manages work package closure, punch lists, and project turnover process. Approves pre and post-pour checklistsSupports Project Safety and Risk Management: Collects necessary documentation to identify and determine impact of potential contract changes, disputes, and claims. Leads LEAN/SQP committee and identifies improvement opportunities. Ensures all subcontractors are in compliance with terms of subcontracts, generates, and obtains approval on impact notices as needed. Reviews and confirms reports documenting compliance (Company and subcontractors) with prevailing wage, workforce utilization, MBE/SBE participation, etc., and advises the Project Manager of issues. Interfaces with Safety and Risk Management in establishing clinics, managing first report of injuries, and assisting with co-worker case managementSupports Onboarding and Training Needs: Follows Company Recruitment and Hiring Guidelines. May conduct new-hire orientation and process E-Verify (must be certified). Ensures site access guidelines are followed. May coordinate tracking and completion of training requirements with project managementSupports Information Technology: Collaborate and coordinate with IT to ensure the equipment needs are defined and met.Work Environment: Work is a combination of office and field environments involving various types of conditions encountered on the construction site. Involves exposure to outside weather and job site conditions. Ensures a Safe Work EnvironmentParticipates in Training/Certifications Job Requirements:

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university and 2 years of experience; or 6 years of construction related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business documents, technical procedures, and government regulations.

Ability to communicate well with all levels of workers involved with the project.

Ability to work in a team environment

Ability to define problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

Must have the ability to exert physical effort, handling average weight objects up to 20 pounds.

Requires ability to maneuver in and out of the job site trailers and various stages of job site terrains.

Proficiency in Microsoft software programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Basic understanding of construction software such as Primavera and Timberline.
