Live Voice Writers/Captioners connect the hard of hearing and deaf to the world around us, which is especially crucial now. Voice Writers use voice recognition technology to create broadcast-quality closed captioning for a variety of media outlets. Voice Writers come from a wide variety of backgrounds, but the main things we have in common are that we 1) speak English with a native proficiency, 2) type quickly, and 3) have a knack for grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

More importantly, we firmly believe that televised and web-based news, sports, information, and entertainment play an important part in how our society functions, and thus, should be accessible to everyone.

Candidates will train from our new training facility, located in the heart of downtown Lexington, and will work from home upon successful completion of training (about 4 to 6 months). Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis after successful completion of pre-employment assessments, so please consider applying today. Candidates will begin training as soon as possible.

You will start out earning $32,000 per year with benefits; once you go through training and pass a series of accuracy tests, your yearly salary will be $35,000 per year, with plenty of opportunity to work extra hours and earn overtime.

We are currently looking to fill a wide variety of shifts:

Tuesday – Saturday 5:00 am – 1:30 pm

Wednesday – Sunday 4:30 am – 1:00 pm

Wednesday – Sunday 6:00 am – 2:30 pm

Saturday – Wednesday 6:30 am – 3:00 pm

Saturday – Wednesday 3:30am – 12:00 pm

Minimum Requirements:

An undergraduate degree, such as in (but not limited to) English, Communications, or another liberal arts discipline OR Associate's degree plus one year of related experience OR completion of training program in court reporting or captioning OR high school diploma plus three years of related work experience.

An interest in providing media access to millions of closed captioning users.

The ability to read, write, and speak English with a native proficiency.

A clear speaking voice and excellent enunciation skills.

The ability to make quick judgments and work under deadlines.

Proficiency in PC-based computer applications, with strong multitasking and troubleshooting.

Quick and accurate research abilities and the ability to follow written directions.

The ability to set up and work from home; readiness to work independently, with limited supervision.

The ability and willingness to work a non-traditional shift, overtime, holidays, or as needed according to broadcast schedules.

Full-time employment; $32K/year to start. $35K after successful completion of training, plus available overtime.
