About Us: A BRIGHTER FUTURE ABI provides home and community-based services to individuals living with brain injury.

Our Mission: We provide supports to individuals with acquired brain injury through an eclectic approach which utilizes creativity and empathy to allow participants to meet their potential and live fulfilling lives. Job Summary: The Residential Direct Support Professional provides assistance to individuals with acquired brain injury in the residential setting and carries out therapeutic services that offer individuals rehabilitation, retraining, and reintegration into their communities.

Required Competencies: High School Degree or GED; valid drivers license from state of residence; valid automobile insurance and registration.

Primary Responsibilities: Assist with providing individuals with an organized framework within which to function in daily activities, including social skills training, sensory or motor development, reduction or elimination of maladaptive behaviors, prevocational skills; teach individuals concepts and skills to promote independence, including following instructions, attendance and punctuality, task completion, budgeting and money management, problem solving and safety.

Additional Accountabilities: Preparing meals and weekly menus; assisting participants with their individual objectives; assisting participants with daily hygiene tasks; organizing and participating in various community activities with individuals; taking individuals to medical appointments; assisting participants with fiduciary responsibilities; participating in staff planning meetings; administering medicine; completing documentation promptly; maintaining the cleanliness of the residential site and other tasks that arise.

Preferred Competencies: Time-management; ability to multi-task; excellent communication and social skills; personal accountability; and the ability to work well on a team.

Physical Demands: Regularly required to verbally communicate, use hands, physically assist clients with transfers/mobility, and possess the physical capacity to reasonably perform his/her job in the residential and community setting.
