DescriptionRobert Half Finance is searching for an efficient Staff Accountant to join their growing team on a full-time basis. In this role, the Staff Accountant is in charge of preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. You will also be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You will lend your skills in assisting the development and implementation of accounting policies. Also, you will take part in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This position is very complex as it plays a part in the production of Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. This is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity in the Lexington, Kentucky area, at a company where effort is rewarded.Key responsibilities
Take part in various department-wide initiatives
Manage schedules for capital lease and monthly payments
Organize and review various financial data, then report it in a manner that is useful and understandable
Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Regular maintenance and reconciliation of journal entries
Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process, which includes monthly financial close workbook preparation
Become well-versed in month end balance sheet account reconciliations
Produce journal entries and perform the month end close under minimal supervision
Impromptu reporting and special projects, when requested
Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Maintain intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation
Manage depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation
Produce analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for reporting by management

Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
Great attention to detail
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
ERP system experience
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
Demonstrated ability in strong analytical, quantitative and social skills
Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
Experience with Annual Inventory
General ledger experience desired
Cost accounting experience
Deep understanding of Microsoft Great Plains Accounting
General ledger experience preferred
