Sr. Project Manager:
  • Position will be responsible for coordination and management of the planning effort for the modernization of the Kansas Management Information System (KMIS) utilized by the Department for Children and Families Rehabilitation Services. While the initial contract engagement will focus on initiation and planning, including a detailed feasibility study, the successful candidate will also be considered for the project management of the execution of the project including execution planning, system development, project monitoring, and deployment. The modernized KMIS will include: comprehensive case management tools; fiscal components; document creation and storage; security; accessibility; and, real-time data reporting.

Skills required:
  • Strong project management background
  • Experience in developing and presenting feasibility studies (including alternative analysis, cost benefit studies, etc.), managing system requirement development, developing requests for proposals (RFPs), and comprehensive project budgets
  • Demonstrates professionalism when dealing with challenging people and situations
  • Ability to create and maintain the project work plans in MS Project
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly learn new business and technical processes
  • Proven ability to self-direct
  • Proven ability and desire to solve problems and present implementable solutions
  • Ability to communicate (verbal and written) effectively
  • Presentation skills both in delivering presentations and in creating presentations using Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Ability to facilitate groups in coming to a consensus.
  • Strong ability to create accurate estimates for the work to be completed utilizing staff
  • Ability to build and maintain team cohesiveness between contractors and State staff
  • Demonstrative skill in project management methodology

Knowledge and ability to utilize the current version of the following products:
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio and Project
  • SharePoint
