Every role at Sheltering Arms brings with it new opportunities for advancement and development so that team members can achieve their professional goals while helping others reach for theirs.We are looking for a Kin Specialist who will be responsible for helping the foster care homefinding team certify identified kinship resources in a timely manner by supporting kin as they navigate the licensing process. Essential Functions:
Work collaboratively with the homefinding team, case planners and the family finding specialist to ensure that suitable relatives and fictive kin are certified as foster parents as quickly as possible
Support relatives and fictive kin as they navigate the certification process
Assist in provision of Mini-Mapp training for kinship foster parents
Educate the homefinding team on strategies for working with kinship foster parents
Serve as an ongoing source of information for kinship foster parents and connect them to supports as needed
Perform all other related tasks
Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalency diploma
Current or former experience as a kinship foster parent in New York City
Excellent communication, planning, organizational and multi-tasking abilities
Comfortable traveling throughout NYC
