District Safety SpecialistTracking CodePOS-219331Job DescriptionThe District Safety Leader will report to the Employee Health & Safety Manager, this position will provide leadership to the Heartland District field and office employees, manage loss control and accident prevention activities, and ensure compliance with local, state, and national regulations. The position will also be responsible for developing and implementing safety programs, strategies, policies, training, and procedures. The position will establish and promote maintenance of a safe, accident-free, and healthy work environment at the office level and field employees by performing the following duties (not intended to be all-inclusive)

Supervision and coordination of all EHS related activities within the facilities assigned, to support management with the implementation of EHS standards and requirements.

Conduct and manage EHS inspections & audits in accordance with Hussmann policy

Implement and maintain (revise as necessary) local EHS programs based on Company policies and other regulations

Liaison with local authority, community and other external bodies regarding EHS issues

Provide EHS consultation to all functions of the District

Recognize acute hazards and recommend or make immediate corrections

Coordinate and conduct EHS related training

Participate in incident investigation and/or emergency response at District location(s)

Administrative duties (examples: SDS Sheets, data entry, Workers’ Compensation, maintain KPIs, Maintain injury & illness recordkeeping)

Travel required (up to 60%), including overnight

Required Experience

2-4 years Environmental Health & Safety work experience

Minimum high School diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s Degree in EHS-related field preferred)

Demonstrated working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, EPA required

OSHA 30 or similar certification

Must have valid driver’s license

Must have physical capability to climb ladders and lift up to 50 pounds

Self-starter, with general instructions
