Main Responsibilities:
This position operates a hone and/or a centerless grinder to fabricate parts according to blueprints. The operator loads parts in the machine, cycles machine, and detects malfunctions in machine operations, such as worn or damaged cutting tools. The position runs production lots, communicates with co-workers regarding productions runs, and maintains a safe, organized and clean work environment.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of one year experience operating grinder and/or hone
Forklift truck driving experience
Ability to read and write English, follow verbal and written instructions, and use simple math
Duties include:
Monitors feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to management or designee.
Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
Machines parts to blueprint specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and hones.
Performs inspection of machined products and documents results as required.
Assists in other work areas to perform fabrication and load and unload trucks.
Operates forklifts and overhead cranes to convey, move, or hoist materials.
Complies with OSHA safety and health rules and must be able to wear job-site specific personal protective equipment.
Ensures a full understanding of the Quality and Procedures Manuals in support of the company’s continued registration to ISO 9001.
Participates in mandatory training and continuing education as required to maintain compliance.
Job Requirements:
Must be able to read and understand blueprints.
Must be able to read and understand measuring tools as required, including, but not limited to, OD micrometers, ID micrometers, and calipers.
Must be able to use power and hand tools as required.
Must be able to push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 lbs independently.
Must be able to work independently and effectively within tight time timelines.
