Main function

Under general direction, cleans all areas of the surgery center by performing routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing stations, offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobby, lounge, restrooms, and corridors. Demonstrate ability to utilize the chemicals and supplies according to procedure.

Duties and

responsibilities

1. Philosophy

a) Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers

b) Interacts with others in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner

3. Financial practices

a) Uses facility resources appropriately and avoids wasteful practices

b) Reports wasteful practices

c) Analyzes work area and makes recommendations for potential cost-effective improvements

4. Compliance program

a) Contributes to the progress and development of the organization's adopted compliance program

b) Performs according to established compliance policies and procedures

5. Performance-improvement program

a) Contributes to the progress and development of the organization's adopted performance-improvement program

b) Performs according to established performance-improvement policies and procedures

6. Safety/risk-management program

a) Adheres to safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities

b) Reports observed or suspected safety violations, hazards, and policy/procedure noncompliance to the supervisor or other designated person

8. Duties

a) Performs routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing stations, offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobby, lounge, restrooms, and corridors in a clean, neat and sanitary manner.

b) Transports trash and hazardous waste to appropriate disposal area.

c) Utilizes the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure

d) Follows all infection control practices including hand washing techniques and Standard Precautions.

e) Work evening and night shifts as assigned.

f) Adhere to all policies in the employee handbook.

g) Keeps areas properly stocked.

h) Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Cooperative work attitude toward co-employees, management, patients, visitors, and physicians

Requirements

Required

1. High school diploma or GED certificate

2. Good communication skills

3. Computer skills

Physical/mental requirements

1. Ability to reach, bend, stoop, stand, walk, push, pull objects, and perform repetitive motions.

2. Ability to perform light to moderate lifting, up to 50 to 75 pounds

Working conditions

(environmental)

1. Well lit and ventilated area with complicated equipment, some of which is hazardous in nature

2. Category III: exposure to blood borne pathogens and may encounter chemical hazards

3. Potential exposure to communicable diseases

Previous experience working in a hospital or clinical environment a plus!

Must pass background check and drug screen
