Department:1210112911 Acuity Adaptable UnitExpected Weekly Hours:36Shift:Position Purpose:The Charge Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse and is accountable for practicing within the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice (2004).The Charge Nurse is responsible for unit level service delivery including clinical leadership and coordination, operational functions, quality and financial performance, human resource management, quality and risk management, clinical pathway development and other service delivery improvements within the unit. The charge nurse is accountable for the delivery of holistic, compassionate, individualized patient care demonstrated by the use of the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation and evaluation.The charge nurse facilitates interdisciplinary team planning and serves as a clinical resource for the defined patient population. Working in partnership with clinical and other staff, the Charge Nurse will contribute to strategic and operational management in a way that is consistent with Mercy Medical Center-Clinton’s vision and values.The Charge Nurse assumes accountability for the nursing department in the absence of the Unit Director.Job Description Details:QUALIFICATIONSActive registration for Registered Nurse – Board of Nursing, State of Iowa Must be ACLS certified. Baccalaureate degree in nursing and certification by a nationally recognized nursing organization is required. Specialty certification required. Continuously seek opportunities to enhance own professional nursing practice. Membership in an appropriate professional nursing organization is recommended. Experience preferred. A propensity for a high degree of interpersonal skills to deal with a range of complicated problem situations. Must be able to demonstrate basic computer skills in a Windows environment. Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
