We invite you to add to it.HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DOLehigh Hanson is seeking a qualified Plant Project and Reliability Engineer for our cement plant in Mason City, Iowa.Direct and coordinate activities for capital projects for the Mason City Plant including the scope of projects, justification, supplier bids, construction, and commissioning. The individual will work with various department heads of the Mason City Plant in the coordination of capital and improvement projects. Serves as a resource for the maintenance and production departments in developing the Company’s maintenance plan and works to meet financial objectives and goals. The Plant Engineer will possess a strong operational knowledge of all pieces of process equipment as well as a solid understanding of process theory, supervisory skills, and facilitation of essential communication. The Reliability Engineering skills will ensure continuous improvement of operating equipment excellence.This opportunity is perfect for the engineering professional who is looking to grow their career with an industry leader.

Direct, review and manage capital projects.

Direct preparation of or prepares drawings and specific type of equipment and materials to be used in construction and equipment installation.

Estimate labor, materials, construction and equipment costs.

Review equipment needs and modifications with various department heads.

Inspect completed installations for conformance of design and equipment specifications and safety standards.

Observes operation of installation for conformance with operational standards.

Reliability Engineering to develop, implement, and audit equipment inspections in order to 1) determine equipment condition, 2) identify abnormal conditions which could lead to failure, 3) project wear rates, 4) identify and stop repetitive failures and 5) provide information for planning work.

Work to improve equipment and process performance by applying reliability engineering principles, statistical data, and supporting the work process.

Establish and manage lubrication program and oil analysis, ensuring all equipment is properly lubricated and oil analysis is performed on critical equipment.

Participate in the development of preventative maintenance program (PM’s and PdM’s) in conjunction with production, EH&S, quality and maintenance staff.

Ensure continuous improvement of operating equipment excellence (OEE) (% reliability and % rate performance)

Review and participates in schedule development and execution for the annual shutdown.

Review and participate in developing the plant budget.

Develop Job Safety analysis and Environmental standards into capital projects for conformance with operational, APCD, EPA, MSHA, and other governmental standards.

Ensure the availability of required spare parts (BOMs) related to capital projects, requisitions tools, equipment and supplies required for operations of the capital projects.

Participate in strategies and implementation of new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.

Maintain plant blueprints.

Confer with management, engineering and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance issues and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.

Serve as a role model in the promotion of safety awareness throughout the plant and Company; promptly addresses safety concerns.

Must complete all assigned work in compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory requirements (i.e., MSHA, DOT, DOL, etc.), including safety programs administered at a State or Local level as allowed by the Department of Labor. Must maintain awareness of surroundings at all times and perform their work in a safe and productive manner. In the event of a workplace incident, immediate notification to a manager as well as an incident report is required.

Bachelor's degree in engineering is required. Mechanical engineering preferred.

Minimum 5 years of professional experience in the field of mechanical or systems engineering and project management.

Minimum 3 years of experience in providing support for heavy manufacturing, cement manufacturing preferred.

Previous experience in equipment Inspection action plan development, CMMS experience, PM/PDM maintenance program.

Understanding of: Vibrations, Tribology, Stress (mechanics), Fracture mechanics, Thermography, Electrical test, Ultrasound test, Corrosion, Inspections

Familiarity with Microsoft Office products including Project, SAP and CAD software.

Understanding of contractual matters (negotiation and legal aspects).

Demonstrated experience in leadership and project management, problem solving and creativity, strategic thinking, and decision making.
