Barista position @ Café Muse, North Liberty.
We are a local, third-wave coffee shop that opened in 2017. We currently have a 30 to 40-hour a week opening available for individuals hoping to either get into the coffee industry or continue in it. Individuals must be willing to work mornings, nights, weekends, as well as holiday breaks.
Responsibilities of the job include:
Displays a positive attitude, passion for coffee, and believes each drink brings value to the customer
Responsible for learning and maintaining company standards and protocols
Responsible for learning, understanding, and being able to speak knowledgeably about the company and the coffee program
Responsible for knowing and being able to speak about all coffees served in the shop including but not limited to the coffee's components, history, and how to brew those coffees
Operation of coffee brewing equipment, grinders, scales, timers, water towers, and point of sale systems
Performs opening, closing, and mid-day tasks
Responsible for learning and perfecting latte art
Provides guests with a memorable "WOW" experience
Resolves guest complaints with tact and professionalism or alerts attending leader on staff to assist
Responsible for working in an environment where efficiency, service, and quality must be maintained - crafts each drink with care
Maintains cleanliness at all points during a shift
Skills
Oral Communication Skills
Strong desire to learn about coffee
Ability to work with coffee equipment to ensure coffee is brewed properly
Customer Relations and gracefully diffusing conflicts

Math Aptitude / Money Handling

Operate Point of Sale System
No experience in the coffee/food industry is necessary, but retail experience always helps.
