Perennial Properties is seeking a maintenance technician to help with its apartment properties around Downtown Des Moines. Approximate starting salary is $17.00 per hour, depending upon experience, plus overtime pay and benefits (health insurance, 401k). Expect to hire immediately.
Job Description:
- Assist with general maintenance of apartments and unit turns; tasks to include drywall repair, touch up painting, fixing minor plumbing and mechanical issues, operating a carpet cleaner and replacing garbage disposals.
- Perform other tasks including changing of smoke detector batteries, furnace filters and light bulbs.
- Walk through properties regularly, pick up and clean around buildings and common areas.
- Help with getting apartments ready for next tenant in a timely fashion.
- Provide excellent customer service by responding to work orders within 48 hours, or 24 hours if urgent.
- Work 40 hours per week and overtime as necessary (overtime pay is 1.5 times regular pay). Two weeks of Paid Time Off for the first year of employment.
- On-call rotations after business hours (evenings and weekends) required about one third of the time.
Qualifications:
- Dynamic personality, friendly, likes to be around people but can work independently.
- Organized
- Maintenance background and skillsets
- Able to be on-call every one out of three weeks to respond to emergencies.
- Valid driver's license and reliable car (mileage is reimbursed).
- Able to lift at least 50 lbs.
The maintenance technician's position is a hands-on job requiring the ability to respond promptly to assigned duties and remain organized to ensure all items are completed properly.
