Overview:

Perennial Properties is a family-owned property management company (www.perennialproperties.com) based in the East Village of Des Moines, and we are looking to hire an Accountant. The Accountant is responsible for all the accounting entries for all of our properties; in addition to entering all journal entries, the Accountant also reconciles the bank statements, processes the bimonthly payroll, assists with entries in the Property Management Software (i.e. Yardi Classic) completes various monthly reports and helps with Section 42 Compliance Reporting on an as needed basis. The Accountant deposits monthly rent checks and helps track Past Due balances. The Accountant will assist with the transition of the Property Management Software from Yardi Classic to Yardi Voyager.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

A. Record all accounting entries including rent from tenants, invoices from vendors, statements from banks, depreciation, payroll and adjusting journal entries as needed.

B. Process the bimonthly payroll for Perennial Properties according to State and Federal laws.

C. Assist with the annual third party audits on an as needed basis.

D. Assist with the annual tax returns on an as needed basis.

E. Process the paperwork for various applications including but not limited to City Rental Certificates, Secretary of State Biannual Business Filings, health insurance forms, etc.

F. Monitor and pay all monthly debt service payments and ensure that sufficient funds are available in the specific operating accounts in order to cover the payments.

G. Reconcile the bank statements for all bank accounts monthly.

H. Meet regularly with Perennial Properties Supervisor (Ryan Galloway) to monitor overall financial performance of the properties and when needed to address specific financial issues affecting a property.
