Cedar Hills Community Church in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Director of Youth and Young Adults.

General Job Summary:

Responsible for providing direction and oversight to Youth (grades 6-12) and Young Adults (age 18-30) in our core calling of disciples making disciples in the everyday stuff of life. (Matthew 28:18-20) Recruit, train and empower individuals and teams to engage in disciple-making ministries. This position reports to the Pastor of Teaching and Leadership.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities:

Ministry to Youth:

Develop a vision for student disciples making disciples.

Develop, promote, and coordinate a balanced ministry of discipleship to junior and senior high students moving them toward a life-long faith in Jesus.

Train students and leaders in service and outreach to the community.

Involve youth in missional communities and leadership development.

Engage in life-on-life and life-in-community with students.

Ministry to Parents:

Partner with parents to encourage discipleship in the home.

Partner with parents to execute youth ministry.

Ministry to Leadership Team:

Build a disciple-making youth ministry team.

Train teams of students, student leaders, mentors, parents and adult team members to disciple middle school, high school, and college students.

Coordinate the work of a leadership team to oversee youth group meetings, retreats, camps, mission trips and other student events and identify and develop new disciple-making opportunities.

Ministry to Young Adults:

Develop, promote and coordinate a disciple-making ministry for and with young adults.

Recruit, train, and supervise a young adult ministry team.

Other Ministry Responsibilities:

Assist with creating and casting a vision for disciples making disciples.

Assist in training small group leaders to make disciples.

Coordinate ministries with family, children and adult disciple making ministries.

Participate in Sunday morning preaching and worship leadership as coordinated with Pastor of Teaching and Leadership.

Serve and communicate effectively with other members of the staff.

Consistently promote the mission and vision of Cedar Hills.

Attend staff meetings.

Performance Expectations:

Exhibits a passion for God and Christ-like Spirit.

Demonstrates deep knowledge and understanding of the Bible.

Invite youth and young adults to new or deeper faith in Christ.

Strong gifts of leadership, teaching and shepherding.

Be able and willing to represent Cedar Hills in a positive manner.

Qualifications:

Committed to lead a Christ-centered body of believers and to honor God by making more disciples for Jesus Christ.

Bachelors degree required.

Successful experience as a disciple making disciples.

Successful experience leading Youth Ministry.

Strong commitment to Reformed theology.

Physical, Mental and Environmental Requirements:

Light physical work requirements sitting most of the time, but frequent standing, walking and vehicle driving also required. Other physical activities include keyboarding, kneeling, reaching, grasping and repetitive motions. Effective hearing and speaking abilities are required for frequent interpersonal communications (both verbal and written) mental requirements involve dealing daily with a variety of intellectual and practical problems.
