We are searching for a female to provide community living support services for our daughter on the weekends. Our open position is currently 10 hours between Saturday and Sunday in Niles, Michigan. The position pays over $17 per hour and is paid directly through our Michigan community mental health agency.
Our daughter is 31 years old, has some mental impairment and is hearing impaired/deaf. She communicates with sign and speech and we are seeking a candidate who has both skills in working with special needs people as well as someone that can communicate in sign language. If we find a great candidate that lacks sign skills, we are open to training the right person. Additional hours may open up in the future during the week, but for now, we are just seeking 10 hours per weekend.
The job can include helping our daughter with daily living skills, self-care, cooking, going out to eat, shopping, working out at the Y, or just hanging out. Our daughter is fun and energetic, and this position is all about enabling her to live as normal a life as possible.
All applicants must have their own car to drive as part of the job is to go out in the community with our daughter. We will also conduct background checks as a normal course of hiring.
