Auto Tech Tutor for Student with Autism (Henderson and Wylie Farm Road)

Indiana, Bloomington 00000 Bloomington USA

Vacancy caducado!

We are looking for an auto tech tutor/coach for a student with high-functioning autism at Ivy Tech. We need someone who can work about 10-25 hours a week. Hours are flexible, with most of them being in the mornings and early afternoons. You will be collaborating with two other tutors, with some schedule overlaps. The main job of the tutors is to demonstrate vehicle part disassembly and reassembly, explain part functions, and teach diagnostic and repair skills. Some of the time will be spent on reviewing teaching materials such as u-tubes or power-points. A big chunk of the time will be spent on supervising students repeated practice. We have a garage equipped with most of the tools required by the school.

The classes for the summer and fall semesters will be "Engine Performance II" and "Automatic Transmission I." You will be learning the specific topics of the classes with my son, and the two other tutors can lend you support, but you do need to have a general know-how about vehicles. It would be great if you have some real world experience, either as a professional or amateur mechanic. It is also plus if you have some experience or knowledge about autism, though that is not required.

The student is smart, humorous, and highly motivated, in spite of a high-functioning autism diagnosis. He is well-read and has great intuitive knowledge about cars. Training in basic autism therapy will be provided to help you work with students learning style. Please respond to this post or call 812-320-8581 if you are interested. Thanks!
