Summary This vacancy is for an Office Automation Assistant position in the Chicago Regional Office located in Oak Brook, IL. This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Office Automation Assistant, GS-0326-05/06 FPL-06 positions within the Census Bureau in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience. Responsibilities Performing troubleshooting duties related to hardware, software, and/or telecommunications problems. Editing and reformatting electronic drafts of reports and materials. Identifying, sorting, and calculating data; and/ or establishing detailed procedures needed to enter and retrieve data for administrative and/or survey reports. Specialized Experience: For the GS-05, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes identifying and resolving hardware and software problems and coordinating the replacement of laptop equipment; experience in providing clerical support and assistance to an office staff, using automated equipment and products to compile information. OR Education: 4 years above high school. For the GS-06, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal services. Experience for this position includes identifying and resolving hardware and software problems and coordinating the replacement of laptop; experience in providing clerical support and assistance to an office staff, using automated equipment and products to compile information; and experience establishing process improvements in an administrative environment. Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
