Project Title: Georgia Emerging Infections Program Employment Status: Full-Time (40 hours/week) Position Summary The Healthcare-Associated Infection (HAI) Prevalence Epidemiologist will thoroughly understand and execute study protocols and procedures to ensure accurate and consistent collection of data. The position will be responsible for ensuring high-quality surveillance following EIP best practices in data acquisition and quality procedures. This position will be assigned to the HAI program area and will also provide general EIP support. This position requires a valid Driver?s License and the ability to readily obtain/ use an insured personal vehicle for off-site visits and specimen transportation frequently and as needed. Job Functions Function 1 (80%): Conduct medical record reviews for assigned patients within the program area to better understand patient characteristics. Frequent contact with multiple departments within healthcare facilities necessary to acquire patient information. May involve travel to hospitals throughout the Metro Atlanta area . Function 2 (15%): Perform data collection, entry, management, and analysis for assigned program area to ensure accurate data. Work with project partners as needed to address survey efforts and inform through verbal and written reports, presentations, data management, and organizational tasks. Function 3 (5%): Effectively communicate with healthcare facilities for recruitment into the survey. Coordinate requests for medical charts at various hospitals in the Metro Atlanta Area. Minimum Requirements Education: Minimum: Bachelor?s degree with 4 years of full-time, relevant public health work experience OR Bachelor?s degree with 2 years direct EIP experience. Desired: Master?s degree in Public Health or related field. Epidemiology or Infectious Disease specialty preferred. Experience: Experience working with Healthcare Associated Infections or infection prevention. Experience working with CDC, GA Department of Public Health (DPH), other DPH, EIP, or EIP pathogens. Experience with medical data abstraction, electronic medical records systems, or medical terminology. Experience applying epidemiologic methods: study design, creating surveys, conducting interviews, analyzing data, etc. Experience interacting with or providing technical assistance to public health professionals, laboratory staff, or health care providers. Specific Skills: Strong analytical abilities, including experience using data collection techniques and computer database systems to collect, analyze, interpret, or disseminate data such as: SAS, R, MS Access, MS Excel, REDCap, or SendSS. Experience performing quality control or data validation of large datasets will be helpful. Excellent organizational and communication skills, including public speaking and preparation of written materials such as documents and reports. Ability to work with proficiency, both independently and as a team member, in a high-pressure environment. Relocation and Visa sponsorship are not available for this position.
