High-level Portrait Retoucher & Work Flow Manager (Lincoln Square)

Illinois, Chicago 00000 Chicago USA

Vacancy caducado!

Seasonal High-level Portrait Retoucher and Work Flow Manager desired immediately for Family Photography Studio having an exceptionally busy summer and fall

Note that almost all sessions are currently being conducted outdoors on location, safely & socially distanced. The studio is being booked on a very limited basis with many safety protocols in place. (Read to the bottom of this posting to read more about the safety protocols to keep employees safe & healthy.)

Key result desired: to help busy family photographer 20-30 hours a week (split between 3-4 days) to keep up with demand during her busiest time of year by retouching photos (specifically of kids, dogs, and the humans who love them) using Mac computers (Mac experience required), and then handling continued work flow of cropping, sharpening, laying out images for collages and wrap-around canvases, checking over test prints with studio owner (masks will be worn), placing final orders with labs, packaging, and helping to arrange client pick-ups (safe and contact-less).

Key objective: part-time work for 3-4 days a week now through mid-December (and ideally into the new year) to manage work flow as outlined in key result described above.

Key responsibilities: quickly learn and understand our work flow to maintain timely completion of clients' orders, retouch photos of people and pets with Lightroom and Photoshop as demonstrated by studio owner (or in a way that achieves the same results), have excellent time management to effectively complete orders within a specified amount of time and to the requested degree of competence, take initiative in figuring out problems that may come up to create a workaround if needed.

Other tasks that may be given if in line with employee's skill set or if time allows: assist in the photography studio with tasks like vacuuming, cleaning the studio floor, packing photography gear and charging equipment for location sessions, assisting on sessions (safely) if time allows, helping to keep the restroom and work space clean, tidy, and sanitized, steaming backgrounds (this is rarely needed but can come up); and helping clients with order pick-ups.

Schedule would be ideally be within these dates/times: Wed, 10-5, Thursday 9-6, Friday 9-5, and Saturday 9 am to 2 pm, but has some flexibility for Tuesday 10-7 instead of Thursday 9-6. (The studio is closed Sundays and Mondays.)

Professional business casual attire requested, but it's a fairly laid back environment. You are welcome to use head phones to listen to your own music/audio while you work. Punctuality (arriving to work on time) is a must.

This is the perfect position for a hobbyist/amateur/professional photographer who is not currently busy with their own projects/business this year but still has time and desire for a part-time gig. This is ideal for someone extremely detail oriented, confident in Photoshop and Lightroom (on Mac computers), positive in their overall attitude, who loves to be in a creative, upbeat environment. If you enjoy photography and learning about it, this is a place you can learn even more. If you fit into our company culture, have a great work ethic, and work well with a direct communication style, we can happily talk about maintaining your position into the new year.

Portfolio OF RETOUCHING SAMPLES (before and after is preferred), cover letter, and resumé required.

COVID SAFETY PROTOCOLS: we are primarily looking for someone who can work in the studio the majority of the time, but it can be worked out that retouching work is done remotely and you only have to come into the studio to do certain things like opening packages to check over test prints, opening packages of final artwork to re-package for client pick-up, etc.

We will be making the office space as safe as possible by having plexi-glass cut & fitted to partition between work spaces, but ideally only one person is in the office at a time, and the owner can work from a separate but nearby office space. (Another retoucher and our designer are currently both working remotely and do not come into the studio.)

Masks will be worn whenever there are more than 2 people in the space at one time. Hand sanitizer will always be available to you as well as disinfectant spray and wipes. Merv level 13 air filters have been installed into the HVAC system which help filter out virus.

We want to keep everyone as safe as possible while maintaining an exceptionally busy year.

We look forward to meeting you!
