Under direct supervision, responsible for all grounds maintenance and the overall appearance of the cemetery. The successful candidate has an eye for detail and a passion for outstanding customer service. They also have a strong work ethic and previous experience in a general labor or grounds keeping type position. Must be willing to work Saturday in exchange off for a day during the week.
Responsibilities and Duties
Take direction from Operations Manager to complete daily/weekly tasks to ensure¯customer satisfaction and¯priority tasks are successfully¯completed¯in a timely fashion.
Train, supervise and coach a team of 7-8 seasonal grounds personnel.
Work well as a team with other Grounds Service Department employees.
Cut grass, maintain lawn,string trim around trees, walkways and memorials, spread grass seed, trim bushes and trees, pull weeds and pick up trash as needed.
Help the Grounds Manager with daily burials, when needed.
Clear debris and maintain drives and walkways in safe condition.
In winter months, provide snow removal and keep sidewalks and walkways free and clear of snow and ice, to maintain a safe environment for visitors.
Maintain professional appearance¯and demeanor at all times.
Offer friendly customer service to visitors.
Take responsibility for and maintain overall appearance and cleanliness of cemetery.
Report all problems to the Operations Manager.
Clean and maintain facility and machinery at direction of Operations Manager.
Properly place¯cemetery decorations in spring and fall.
Complete responsibilities in professional manner ensuring safety of all persons.
Receive and execute all daily assignments.
Qualifications
Any combination of training and experience equivalent to high school education and one-year general labor or grounds keeping. Experience working in cemetery or related field preferred, but not required.
Strong work ethic and willingness to work outdoors in all types of weather.
Work well with others and have team-oriented approach.
High level of compassion and integrity.
Strong sense of discretion and confidentiality.
Ability to multi-task and set priorities.
Fluency in Spanish a plus but not required.
