Chief Sales Officer

Specialty Program Group (SPG), a division of HUB International Limited, is looking to hire a Chief Sales Officer (CSO). The CSO will report directly to the President and CEO of SPG and be an integral member of the SPG leadership team. The Chief Sales Officer will have three primary areas of focus:1. HUB CSO – As one of HUBs Chief Sales Officers (CSO), actively participate in the HUB sales leadership with other CSOs and develop a network of relationships within HUB in order to effectively distribute our program solutions for the benefit of HUB customers. Specifically:

Attend and participate in National CSO meetings, calls and other activities

Develop relationships with CSOs, Chief Marketing Officers (CMOs) and Hub Presidents around North America

Build a database of HUB producers and business across the organization to understand how we can distribute products throughout the customer base

2. Sales/Marketing Strategist, Coach and Manager – Provide leadership and support to each acquisition in order to help them achieve their growth goals by the following:

Development of sales and marketing tools and processes for implementation in each program business

Assessment of sales and marketing competencies, strengths and weaknesses of new acquisitions

Assistance in training and development of sales professionals within program businesses

Management and oversight of sales professionals

Monitoring and responsibility for sales performance of program businesses, individually and in the aggregate

Development of a bespoke sales and marketing strategy for each program business that will encompass: personal sales and development of sales resources, telephonic lead generation, electronic marketing, website development, branding, social media and public relations

3. Relationship Manager – Act as external ambassador for Specialty Program Group with brokerage community (both retail and wholesale) and program industry. Specifically:

Develop understanding of retail brokers throughout the U.S. and key players in geographies and specialties

Build relationships with retail brokers around North America to support product distribution and growth

Development of overall SPG marketing plan

Attend relevant industry conferences and participate in organizations including: NAPSLO, target markets, AAMGA, IBANY, and other retail brokerage organizations as appropriate.

Key Performance Indicators – Success will be measured by the success of Specialty Program Group (SPG) and individual acquisitions in achieving their growth goals. Specifically:

SPG’s Annual Revenue Budget

SPG’s organic growth (OG) and new business goals

Revenue and growth budget for each business within the SPG portfolio

HUB revenue lift

Required Skills:

A Bachelor’s Degree in business or a related field of study preferred. In lieu of Bachelor's Degree, an applicable amount of relevant work experience will be considered

At least 10 years of progressive, successful sales experience; majority must be within an agency, brokerage or consulting firm

Be a hands-on manager; enjoys mentoring and direct management of staff; also, desire to work alongside producers in the field helping to originate new business through your personal networks and close accounts in team-based sales

Can institute effective employee development procedures which address training, processes and procedures, E&O avoidance, continuing education, recruiting, hiring and disciplinary actions

Proven progressive sales track record in driving new business results

A consultative, positive and resourceful approach to dealing with prospect, clients and associates

Strong visibility within the communities we serve

Highly developed organization and time management skills

Excellent listening skills

Strong written, verbal & interpersonal communication skills

Public speaking and presentation experience

Strong degree of self-motivation

Demonstrated ability to lead/motivate others

Ability to manage competing priorities

Is influential and persuasive with the ability to partner across HUB and work well with segment and other practice leaders

This position can be based anywhere in the U.S. near a major airport
