JOB SUMMARY:
Under direction, repairs, services, and performs minor repairs to all vehicles and equipment including side and front loaders, roll offs, delivery trucks, compactors, containers, and any other power driven equipment.
JOB DUTIES:
Inspect trucks and related equipment to locate and determine the extent of necessary repair.
Perform general overhaul and repair work on gasoline, diesel and propane powered engines such as trucks, tractors, forklifts, and other mechanical equipment at off-site locations and at the shop.
Inspect, adjust, and replace necessary units and related parts including valves, hoses, belts and alternators.
Repair cooling, fuel, electrical, and exhaust systems; tune engines using standard testing equipment.
Diagnose, repair, and maintain hydraulic systems.
Perform preventive maintenance work on vehicles, including lubrication and oil changes.
Fabricate and weld to repair equipment as necessary.
Clean and maintain the garage area and equipment.
Maintain records on all maintenance and repair work performed
Perform related duties as required
Air Brake Experience
Air over hydraulic controls/electronic controls
Ability to use all diagnostic equipment
CDL (class B) preferred but not necessary (will help to obtain within 6 months).
Any ASE certifications or Air brake System Certifications will be beneficial Please bring any applicable certifications and DMV record
Willing to work outside in all weather elements
Willing to maintain a safe work environment
Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.
Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects.
Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
Fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices.
Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.
Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition.
Adjust and reline brakes, align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment.
Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges.
Inspect, repair, and maintain automotive and mechanical equipment and machinery such as pumps and compressors.
