Millennium Surgery Center seeks a motivated and team-oriented PRN CST. Candidates must possess at least one year of experience working in a surgery department with patient populations ranging from pediatric to geriatric. Candidates must have graduated from a School of Surgical Technology with current national certification as a CST.
Responsibilities:
Assists surgeon during operative and invasive procedures.
Ensures operating suite is adequately prepared for procedure.
Monitors PAR level of all surgical instruments and supplies.
Cleans and sterilizes all surgical instruments.
The CST shall be competent and current in the use of essential equipment, infection control practices and safety practices which affect patients, visitors, and personnel in the operating room.
Participates in departmental staff meetings and performance improvement activities.
Competency will be maintained in accordance with criteria defined by the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST).
Prepares room in a timely manner with all anticipated instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment for each individual surgical procedure.
Accurately completes operating room counts (instruments, sponges, needles).
Assists the circulating nurse as needed.
Demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks and demonstrates flexibility as job priorities change.
Willing to take on new work routines/methods.
