Job SummaryAssists one or more workers in the skilled maintenance trades by performing specific or general duties of lesser skill, such as keeping a worker supplied with materials and tools; cleaning work area, machine, and equipment; assisting journey-level worker by holding materials or tools; and performing other unskilled tasks as directed by craftsperson or parts of a trade that are also performed by workers on a full-time basis. The kind of work the helper is permitted to perform varies from trade to trade. In some trades the helper is confined to supply, lifting, holding materials and tools, and cleaning working areas. In others, they are permitted to perform specialized machine operations. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum QualificationsHigh school graduate or equivalent.Verifiable vocational training or one (1) year verifiable experience working in the with steam, heat, chilled water systems or compressed air. Must be able to follow written or verbal instructions.Must possess a valid state driver's licenseMust have and wear hard-toed safety shoes which meet ASTM F2413-05 standardsSuccessful candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must continually meet eligibility requirements for access to all areas of Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay.Physical Requirements (Activities performed during a typical day):Walking: FrequentStanding: FrequentClimbing: Working up to 150 feetStooping/Bending: FrequentLifting: Up to 50 lbs.Personal Protective Equipment will be required.
