Responsibilities:
This position is responsible to disposition, service, or repair appliances, lawn and garden merchandise, and electronics at the distribution center. Assist with appliance and electronic questions from stores and other departments. Work with outside servicers to arrange for merchandise repair. Ensure efficient flow of merchandise through the returns process.
Check all incoming appliances, lawn and garden merchandise and electronics - send items in need of repair to the proper repair facility and, when received back, make sure they are in good working order.
Perform minor repair work on appliances and electronics where needed, if possible and practical.
Price repaired or distressed merchandise for resale.
Prepare and send merchandise to stores for resale.
Assist stores, customers and other departments with questions regarding appliances and electronics.
Determine which merchandise is too damaged to repair; salvage parts and prepare merchandise for recycling or disposal.
Process paperwork and document inventory/store systems to record merchandise disposition and assist with manufacturer's warranty recovery.
Process appliance and electronics parts orders.
Qualifications:
One year of college or technical school (preferred)
One to two years practical experience in repair work
One year knowledge of appliance and electronics (features and inner workings)
Ability to use hand tools, solder, etc.
General clerical skills, filing and phones.
Computer literate with knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook.
Ability to communicate effectively with sales representatives, store personnel, customers, and other personnel by telephone, in person, or through written communication; assimilate information and make decisions; work under pressure in a detailed, organized manner.
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
Valid driver license and good driving record
Ability to lift, carry, stoop, bend, sit, walk, stand for long periods of time.
