Job DescriptionThe Senior Technology Advisor will facilitate collaboration between U.S. Army Europe (USAREUR) and the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Research and Development (R&D) community, including GTRI and other University Affiliated Research Centers (UARCs), Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDCs), the Army S&T community, and DoD/DoE Laboratories to integrate and operationalize new technology to address USAREUR requirement gaps.This position is located at the U.S. Army Europe (USAREUR) headquarters in Clay Kaserne, Germany and will be embedded within the USAREUR G5 Strategy, Plans, and Policy Branch.The Senior Technology Advisor will work collaboratively within the branch and with personnel throughout USAREUR headquarters to pursue strategic initiatives, develop requirements, execute projects, participate in key engagements, and support the battle rhythm of the command as requested by USAREUR leaders. Additionally, this role will require a broad technical background and the ability to quickly understand and assess a variety of concepts and areas including materiel, logistics, force readiness, and training. The Senior Technical Advisor will work as part of an integrated team with the host organization including Army Forward Assistance in Science and Technology (FAST) teams, other embedded technical advisors, U.S. European Command (EUCOM) headquarters, other EUCOM service component commands, as well as allies, partners, and other DoD components that support the USAREUR mission.RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDEIdentify innovative technology solutions at various stages of maturity, develop project proposals to operationalize those technologies, and oversee execution and testing of selected concepts to address USAREUR requirement gapsContribute to the Integrated Priority List (IPL) development process that is conducted annually to determine and prioritize USAREUR capability shortfallsCollaborate across the Army, DoD, and US Government R&D communities to identify promising technology concepts to address capability gaps and socialize within USAREUR to determine interest in further investmentAnalyze appropriate funding sources and develop proposals to obtain resources necessary to execute projects to pursue selected technologiesGenerate successful proposals for funding via multiple funding sources and contract vehicles while developing strong relationships with offices that manage these programsServe as the program manager for resulting projects as project funding is awardedParticipate in USAREUR operational planning activities and provide inputs on new technology concepts and help identify capability gaps to drive future investmentsParticipate in technical interchange meetings, exercises, and other operational activities within the USAREUR area of responsibility or with fellow commands when relevant to the USAREUR missionGenerate technical products and briefings and routinely brief USAREUR leadershipMaintain frequent communication with GTRI leadership through designated interface points and identify relevant opportunities where GTRI and other UARCs and FFRDCs can contribute most effectively to the USAREUR missionProvide technical and operational expertise to support USAREUR as requestedPerform other duties as assignedTravel Requirements10% - 25% travelEducation & Length of ExperienceSenior Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/AssociateA Master's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Military Science/Studies, Strategic Studies, National Security or related degree and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,A Master's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, For full info follow application link.Georgia Tech Research Institute is an Equal Opportunity Employer of individuals with disabilities and protected veterans and actively seeks diversity among its employees.
