Job DescriptionThe Electronic Systems Laboratory (ELSYS) Electronics Systems Integration Division (ESID) is currently seeking a Chief Scientist for a full-time research faculty position. ESID is predominantly focused on the research, development, design, and application of software supporting a variety of fielded military applications with emphasis on Electronic Warfare (EW) and avionics systems. In support of this mission, the ESID Division Chief Scientist represents ESID broadly across the GTRI organization and to ESID sponsors. The Chief Scientist also has primary responsibility for developing and executing strategic plans to promote and enhance ESID's technical capabilities and reputation. The Chief Scientist informs and has oversight of ESID's Independent Research and Development (IRAD) portfolio, and mentors ESID personnel in research domains.RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDEFormulate strategic direction and plans for ESID Internal Research and Development (IRAD) investmentsSupport the ESI Division Chief with oversight of the ESID IRAD/HIVES portfolio, including the development of concepts, financial oversight, technical oversight, liaison with ELSYS Chief ScientistWork with ESID researchers, and researchers across GTRI, to develop Strategic Initiative IRAD concepts with potential for high impact to GTRI and the nationParticipate in all ELSYS Chief Scientist Council meetings, including technical reviews, strategy sessions, administrative discussions, and management planningForm strategic relationships with key subject matter experts across ELSYS and from other laboratoriesSupport the ESI Division Chief in the formation of the Division's direction and strategy, manage strategy tool inputs, coordinate sponsor engagement opportunities, and proposal strategy/review/bid decisionsSupport the ESI Division Chief with Modernization/Equipment requests, and selling fund requestsDevelop and sustain strategic relationships with peer leaders across GTRI and Georgia Tech Resident Instruction, to include research partnershipsPerform other duties as requiredTravel Requirements10% - 25% travelEducation & Length of ExperienceSenior Research Engineer/ScientistA Master's degree in Aerospace, Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or related technical field and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,A Master's degree in Aerospace, Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or related technical field and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, orA Doctoral degree in Aerospace, Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related technical field and four (4) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree.Principal Research Engineer/ScientistA Master's degree in Aerospace, Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or related technical field and eleven (11) years of relevant full-time experience, orA Doctoral degree in Aerospace, Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or related technical field, and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience.Required Minimum Qualifications10+ years of experience focused on developing complex, software-intensive avionics systemsExperience with IRAD relating to proposal, execution and/or leadership capacityExperience leading sponsored research projects and sponsor interactionsExperience facilitating dialogue, collaboration, and partnerships among For full info follow application link.Georgia Tech Research Institute is an Equal Opportunity Employer of individuals with disabilities and protected veterans and actively seeks diversity among its employees.
