Domestic Violence Child Welfare Advocate “ Serving all of Monroe County

The Domestic Abuse Shelter has opening for FT Child Welfare Advocate in our CPI Program. This is a non-degreed, non-exempt position that will require the advocate to work collaboratively in a consulting role with DCF CPI child welfare staff. Facilitate or co-facilitate DV training with/for DCF staff. Safety plan with participants, explain DV services available, provide service management and referrals. Complete registration paperwork and service documentation for victims of domestic violence who enter Outreach services. Child Welfare and Child Protection Program is a collaborative effort between DAS, DCF Child Welfare staff and other CBC child welfare professionals to provide an optimal coordinated community response to families experiencing the co-occurrence of domestic violence and child abuse. This program will establish a partnership in which the Domestic Violence Child Welfare Advocate is co-located within the DCF CPI unit facility. The advocate provides consultation to child protection staff, referral services to survivors, and attends monthly meetings between all partnering stakeholders to develop strategies to resolve any barriers or issues. The ultimate goal of the program is to bridge the gap between child welfare and domestic violence service providers to enhance family safety, create permanency for children, and hold perpetrators accountable for their actions. The Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence (FCADV) will provides technical assistance and training to DV staff and child welfare organizations to build collaborations that benefit survivors of domestic violence and their children. DV Advocates play a significant role in ensuring the safety of survivors and their children and provide their expertise in cases where child abuse and domestic violence intersect. The collaboration supports the State of Floridas efforts to keep children with non-offending, protective parents.
