Position Summary: The department of Owls Care Health Promotion is seeking a Coordinator of Health Promotion – Substance Safety.Under the direction and supervision of the Assistant Director of Owls Care Health Promotion, this position works to plan, implement, and evaluate campus-wide health promotion practices in order to create an environment that promotes student success and personal development.Summary of responsibilities:

Plan, implement, and evaluate theory-based and evidence-informed health promotion strategies, policies, programs, and services on the Boca Raton campus in the area of substance safety.

Develop strategic plans, goals, and measurable objectives for health promotion programs and services.

Incorporate multicultural diversity and social justice concepts and principles into health promotion services.

Conduct ongoing needs assessment in the areas of substance safety.

Oversee efforts associated with educational components in the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act.

Assist with compiling information for Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act biennial review.

Serve on the Healthy Campus 2030 committee.

Collaborate with key stakeholders on and off campus to develop a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach to health for students on all FAU campuses, including residential students, student athletes, and fraternity/sorority members.

Advise the Collegiate Recovery Community.

Level of involvement expected with regard to policy making and/or interpretation:

Assist with the creation, implementation, revision, and interpretation of health/wellness educational policies and those in relation to the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act.

Involvement in the development of new and existing programs within the university:

Responsible for the design, development, implementation and evaluation of programming for the department.

Statement of internal and external business contact, include frequency and scope:

Frequent contact with students and external health and wellness professionals and agencies. Some contact with university staff and faculty.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience required. Preferred Minimum Qualifications:Master’s or advanced degree in Health Promotion, Public Health, Health Education, Counseling, Psychology, Social Science, or other related field and at least two years of relevant work experience.Demonstrated ability to work collectively with colleagues including internal and external constituents and individual students.Demonstrated exceptional face-to-face, telephonic, and electronic communication skills.Demonstrated ability to empathically engage students in harm reduction education.Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or Certified in Public Health (CPH).Experience utilizing Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention for College Students (BASICS) and/or Cannabis Screening and Brief Intervention for College Students (CASICS).Experience with bystander intervention training. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of the ACHA Standards of Practice for Health Promotion in Higher Education.Demonstrated knowledge to conceptualize health promotion in the context of higher education.Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-informed health promotion programs/initiatives.Ability to critically review health-related professional literature relevant to college students and assess its applicability and utility for effectiveness on a particular campus.Demonstrated skills in a variety of educational methods including presentations, workshops, trainings, individual behavior change sessions, and small group discussion/facilitation.Willingness and flexibility to gain knowledge of, develop expertise in, and design and implement health promotion programs on a variety of key health issues based on needs assessment results.Salary:$48,000College or Department:Owls Care Health PromotionLocation:Boca RatonWork Days and Hours:Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.Nights and weekends as needed.Application Deadline: 2019-09-02-07:00Special Instructions to Applicant: Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodation, please call 561-297-3057. 711Final candidate will be required to have official, sealed transcripts and original NACES evaluation, if applicable, sent from their educational institution to Human Resources prior to the start of employment.
