Prescription Chicken, makers of the BEST chicken soup in the world, is looking for a self-starter to join our team.

PRESCRIPTION CHICKEN, a women-owned AND women-run business dedicated to making and serving the most delicious chicken soup around is looking for an awesome Director of Ops to lead our Washington, DC team(s).

A little about us: Everyone knows that chicken soup is more or less liquid gold.and warm and comforting soup can practically cure anything that ails you. That's what Prescription Chicken is all about: we’re dedicated to making and serving the BEST chicken soup and getting it to people as quickly as possible. We are open 7 days a week fulfilling orders through online delivery platforms with occasional walk-in guests. It is a fast-paced environment and we’re looking for an AWESOME people to come work and grow with us! Think great opportunity + souper fun + ability to grow with a new company, all while making a little extra challah dough (money that is).

A little about You: First and foremost, you are AWESOME. You are bright, bubbly and approachable and can roll with the punches. You are a strong communicator and know when to ask for help. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee our DC operation which is the hub of our business. Your oversight may extend into other elements of our business as well (such as wholesale, Philly ops, and maybe even some bar food). You are a strong leader who knows how to delegate, manage and follow up, but you are also willing to get your hands in some matzah meal and roll out matzah balls when necessary. You should have management experience – food service and culinary is a plus.

Communicator: Awesome communicator with attention to detail, including following up

Organizing + Planning Pro

Techie (ish): Good at managing emails, on-line ordering, platform management, etc.

Loves to Cook/ServSafe Certified/Know how to Follow a Recipe: Cuz you’ll have to make soup a few times a week, along with some other prep

Strong Palate and Clear Eyes: You must become an acolyte of Prescription Chicken’s products to ensure they are at the highest quality at all times. You are the first line of defense of making sure the product goes out as intended

Respectful and Trustworthy: Respect surroundings, coworkers, vendors and guests. Be a hard working and trustworthy human.

Listen + Learn and then evolve (if needed): Absorb and become an expert at our systems, recipes, processes, and then grow and evolve collaboratively if needed

Start Ups Give You Life: Or at the very least, make you excited to work hard and be a part of something that is growing fast

Hungry: This world is changing rapidly, so we’re looking for someone to make us bigger, better and identify and take on more responsibilities as we grow

Must love chicken soup. Duh.

Roles and Responsibilities

On site Management: being the Eyes and the Ears and the Taste Buds

Online Platform Menu + Hours Management: Updating delivery platforms as necessary, ensuring we are on-line and open daily, ensuring menu is correct, etc

People Management: Be the first point of contact, problem solver, Den Mama or Papa for our team

Oversight of all Operations (DC, Philly and Wholesale Support)

Financial Planning: Adhering to and setting a Budget, adjusting labor and COGS as necessary

Team Management: Day-to-Day Oversight and Guidance, On-site Quality Control and Assurance, Disciplinary Action as needed, Inventory and Ordering, Receiving and Checking in Product, Invoice management, Hiring, Scheduling, Submitting Payroll

Space Management: Keep space organized and very clean, plan and execute Repair & Maintenance kitchen schedule

Safety and Sanitation: Ensuring the highest level of safety and sanitation in our space, with our food, with our team

Relationship Management: With Landlord/roommates, guests, with the team, with vendors and with guests

Production and Prep: Plan weekly production and prep schedule, oversight/follow up of delegated tasks, some hands-on prep and production

Self-Starter and Strong Problem Solver

Communication: weekly calls with leadership and responsive communicator via email and text

Marketing Support/Acolyte: Demos, visiting stores that sell our soup and helping spread the word!

How we’re thinking about the role:

This is a full-time position but there is flexibility with the hours you will work. Some weekend work required, but this is not a traditional late-night restaurant position (win). We will work together to make it work for us all. Job responsibilities may change as we continue to grow!
