DescriptionOperating as a regional airline in the United States, Air Wisconsin Airlines performs flying services as a partner with United Airlines.Currently operating a fleet of CRJ-200 regional jets as United Express, Air Wisconsin Airlines operates throughout the Eastern and Central United States. Air Wisconsin's team is made up of around 2,000 members dedicated to making our travelers’ experiences safe and pleasant.Under the general direction of the Vice President – Safety and Security, represents Air Wisconsin Airlines (AWA) ground-safety interests. Acts as: 1) an internal departmental liaison and 2) an external Company leader when in the field building strong, lasting relationships with vendor leadership teams to ensure open lines of communication at all AWA locations. In addition, responsible for conducting audits, preparing reports and following-up with closing corrective action as required in compliance with the AWA Internal Evaluation Program (IEP) and the Corporate Safety Management System (SMS). Completes other Safety and Security responsibilities as directed.Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Promotes and fosters a safe and secure operating environment

Serves as ground-safety liaison with Mainline flying partners, regulatory agencies and ground-handling vendors, requiring day-to-day, 24/7 availability.

Provides direction to vendor employees to assure Company goals and objectives associated with safety, security, reliability, operational efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction.

Conducts ground-safety investigations as required associated with station operations.

Assists and ensures that checklist(s), databases and audits are relevant to the IEP and SMS are completed as outlined in the respective manuals.

Provides direction to ensure the standardization of the audit process, audit findings, audit reports, audit tracking, and documentation of those processes by using the Company SMS database (Q-Pulse).

Responsible for assessing compliance with all standards established by our Mainline flying partners and AWA.

Enforces departmental safety and security objectives which support Company goals through close coordination with the AWA Safety and Security Department personnel.

Coordinates with all Company departments to ensure that a Safety and Security Department member is represented at meetings as where Safety and Security has input.

Coordinates with industry counterparts to ensure that a Safety and Security Department member is represented at meetings as where Safety and Security information is shared.

Attends various training courses, offered by AWA, our Mainline flying partners and vendors, that are relevant to the position to ensure education and professional development.

Represents AWA at various Leadership meetings when Senior Leadership is unable to attend.

Conducts Safety investigations for the ASAP Event Review committee (ERC) when asked and ensures a quick follow-up.

Maintains a positive working relationship with all Station Managers and Department Managers while ensuring that all safety findings are being addressed and closed in a timely manner.

Maintains, tracks and investigates AWA Aircraft Damages. Updates database, represents the Company on investigation calls and provides direction to vendors regarding their risk and non-compliance mitigation strategy.

Reviews, tracks, and maintains Company database(s) to ensure notification of overdue reports to departmental leaders and senior management.

Conducts safety audits as required by the IEP Manual, SMS requirements, Pilot Reports (ACARS) or Senior Leadership direction. Conducts risk assessments for Hubs and Field Stations to determine if audits, outside the requirements of the IEP manual and SMS, are necessary.

Develops and provides monthly, quarterly and end-of-year Ground Safety summaries for AWA and our Mainline flying partners and ground-handling vendors.

Is trained and qualified in the deicing operation and attends various industry winter operation meetings.

Is trained and qualified in the Ground Operations Manual of the Mainline flying partners we serve.

Is a trained member of the Company Emergency Response Team.

Attendance is considered an essential responsibility.

Adherence to all Company policies and procedures.

RequirementsPreferred Education and Experience

Four-year BS or BA degree preferred.

Work experience in a management role, with proven leadership skills, preferably in 14CFR Part 121 air carrier operations.

Familiarity of the Hubs and Field Stations AWA operates preferred.

Minimum of three years auditing experience with ISO 9000, IOSA or equivalent certification preferred.

Experience in a Lean, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement strategies preferred.

Familiar with aviation Safety Management Systems which may include the areas of safety policy, safety risk management, safety assurance and safety training and promotion.

Experience in data, statistical and risk analysis preferred.

Web-based communication experience preferred.

Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, Internet courseware development tools, and e-mail.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Able to balance competing demands with producing quality results in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent customer service skills.

Strong analytical skills and logical aptitude to work with complex regulatory requirements.

Passport required for Canadian travel.
