Basic Requirement:GS-0401: Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.ORCombination of education and experience with courses equivalent to a major, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Specialized Experience Requirement:For the GS-09: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as of the following: Performed duties of limited scope and complexity in all aspects of forest resource management; Performed assignments in planning the approach and collecting data to carry out less complex forest management activities; Interpreting, evaluating and advising on appropriate action in accordance with established protocols; Performed data analysis and wrote small reports to evaluate forest management and/ collaboration activities; Assisted in ensuring completion of natural resource management objectives and associated documentation in accordance with established program directives; Collaborated successfully with diverse groups to discuss, plan and undertake forest resource management activities; Presented information to individuals of various backgrounds on issues related to natural resource management. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
