Job Description

RP Pro Services is seeking a Senior Communications and Marketing Program Analyst for a federal client in Washington DC. In this role, you will be expected to support the technical offices, with a specific focus on the Policy and Donor Coordination teams, which leads the Agency’s development policy and bilateral/multilateral engagements respectively. PPL is a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines, so the right candidate will require the ability to take initiative, keep up with tasks, and use good judgment on prioritization and multitasking.

The Bureau’s Communications Team is located in the Bureau’s Front Office that reports directly to Bureau’s Deputy Assistant Administrator. You will report to the Communications Team Lead and work closely on day-to-day priorities. This is a small team that requires all members to work on all aspects of team priorities, to fulfill team objectives. The Senior Communications and Marketing Program Analyst is expected to act as a deputy to the Communications Team Lead and be able to own tasks and respond to both the Front Office needs and the entire Bureau.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to,writing talking points for Front Office leadership, coordinating logistics with the Front Office admin team, drafting communication products for public dissemination, utilizing social media to enhance awareness among targeted audiences in addition to promoting communication campaigns internally to the Agency. You may serve as the lead on high-priority products for use within and outside the Agency and lead ad hoc teams when necessary. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with Agency’s main communications hub, the Bureau for Legislative and Public Affairs, on taskers and inter-Bureau communications as well as planning events, both internal and external.

Qualifications

Your Responsibilities:

  • You’ll identify, design, and produce communications products that support the Bureau’s and Agency’s objectives.
  • You’ll conceptualize, research, write and edit factsheets, talking points, speeches, newsletters, and other documents in support of PPL communications strategy and messaging.
  • You’ll work with the Agency’s Legislative and Public Affairs (LPA), when necessary, on content development.
  • You’ll contribute to content on the Bureaus external and internal website pages in collaboration with the communications and office staff.
  • You’ll provide substantive writing and copying editing on a host of documents including congressional reports, strategy documents, congressional and press inquiries, and memoranda.

Your Required Qualification:

  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Current DOD Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to international development, international relations, public administration, legislative affairs, communications, journalism, etc.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience. Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in communications, preferably in international development, working with a U.S. Government agency, an international organization, or non- governmental organization.
  • Proven experience in developing and advising on communications strategies, including messaging to specific audiences.
  • Excellent professional writing and editing skills.
  • Proven experience in managing and designing publications, reports, and promotional materials, including infographics.
  • Experience managing meetings and events, including webinars, from planning to implementation phase, especially in the DC area. Experience with large events involving various stakeholders and high-level meetings.
  • Experience in working with the media.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the think tank, development partners, and academic communities.
  • Ability to work effectively both individually and as a member of a team.
  • Willingness to work on all aspects of team priorities.
  • Must be able to plan, organize, and use time effectively.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work within tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including copy editing experience.
  • Ability to design and produce high-quality products and documents.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications.

Preferred Qualification:

  • International relations background.
  • Experience developing and posting website content and posting social media content.
  • Knowledge of graphics design software, including PhotoShop.
  • Knowledge of international development issues; knowledge of the organization and operations of USAID is a plus.
