Employment Type:Part timeShift:Day ShiftDescription:We are looking for an experienced Patient Care Assistant to join our team in the Operating Room on a Per Diem basis!This person will be responsible for providing routine care that assists in safe and effective patient care in the Surgical Services Department under the direct supervision of the RN.We are looking for someone with open availability during the day Monday-Friday. This person will work 8 hour shifts.Responsibilities include:
Transports patients.
Delivers stat patient specimens to appropriate areas.
Uses pneumatic tube to send specimens to lab.
Obtains blood/blood products from blood bank.
Assists perioperative charge nurse in the patient holding area.
Performs surgical shaves according to department policy.
Assists with positioning, moving, and lifting patients.
Assists the surgical team with room turnover/termination.
Assists nursing staff in OR suites as requested.
Assists patients with elimination needs.
Holds limbs during ortho preps.
Demonstrates basic knowledge of cleaning for turnover and termination of OR rooms. (Prepares rooms for emergency and next day cases).
Sets up, cleans, and delivers equipment to OR suites.
Returns clean equipment to proper location.
Maintains a neat, safe, clean environment.
Restocks daily supplies.
Sets up IVs.
Removes trash, linen, and used equipment from OR suite at close of cases.
Follows housekeeping and hospital procedures.
Cleans equipment, OR tables, tables, floors, and kick buckets in assigned OR rooms.
Assures stock of personal protective equipment in assigned rooms and halls.
Maintains decontamination room in neat and clean manner sending dirty carts down to Central Supply.
Cleans and makes up carts for Holding use.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma
CNA certified preferred
Previous hospital experience preferred
Medical terminology
Computer skills
