Part-time Fashion Design Intern (UNPAID)

Asata Maisé is a sustainable and ethical clothing brand of handcrafted womenswear and accessories made with vintage and reclaimed materials. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated candidate with basic to intermediate construction and sewing skills open to learn new techniques that are unique to the brand. The role will consist of working with the head designer and owner of Asata Maisé with fabric cutting, sewing and construction of pieces. Ideally, the candidate is available to work Monday – Friday, 4-6 hours a day, however we are flexible.

Desired Start: September 2020

Duration: Internship will last for 3 months with a 3 day trial period. At the end of the 3 months we will reassess the contract for future opportunities.

Responsibilities and Duties

Working closely with the head designer on collection development, fabric and notion sourcing, cutting, machine and hand sewing. Candidate will also be asked to complete design research and must be open to learn the Asata Maisé culture.

Qualifications and Skills

Overall understanding of fashion design and history, construction, patterns, and sewing techniques.

Preferred experience with machine and hand sewing (willing to teach the right candidate).

Must communicate clearly.

Strong sense of time management and critical thinking skills.

Must be based within 20 miles of office
