Summary: As the Guidance Counselor you will be managing student career and college readiness strategies as well as providing individual and group counseling to support students to achieve personal, social, and academic goals. You will have an implicit understanding of the importance of creating a coherent path to college beginning in ninth grade.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Must meet Delaware requirements for school counseling licensure and certification(s) in accordance with Delaware Professional Standards Board regulations (14 DE Admin. Code 1500). Preferred Experience:

Masters in School Counseling or equivalent degree with three years experience as a high school counselor.

Requirements: Substantial experience in high school guidance role including managing career and college readiness strategies.

Experience teaching and interacting with high school students.

Must have experience using eSchoolPLUS for student scheduling and grade reporting.

Experience developing the school master schedule in eSchoolPLUS.

Familiarity with Naviance a plus.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Acts as the leader of all beyond the classroom learning initiatives responsible for day-to-day operation and implementation thereof. Responsibilities include, without limitation, acting as the school-wide testing coordinator, assisting all students with college admissions and financial aid processes, implementing college and career readiness curriculum for all grade levels, working with staff to develop and properly fund Career and Technical Education pathways for students, parent communication and support, assessment and admissions testing, managing individual student needs, coordinating the efforts of department heads and the college and career committee, etc.

Ensures school-wide course offerings are appropriate and geared toward college preparation.

Works with the Principal to ensure uniformity of experience and assessment across pedagogical approaches.

Comply with federal and state regulations and district policies.

Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.

Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, business and industry partners and colleagues.

You are flexible and creative and will engage in the life of the school, and are committed to fostering an inclusive community.

Analyze data to inform programmatic adjustments and identify needs.

Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students, parents, administrators, business and industry partners, and staff members

Embrace professional learning opportunities.

Collaborate effectively with colleagues.

Performs other duties as assigned by Principal.
