Title: Senior Claim Representative-Hartford Global Specialty-Commercial AutoLocation: United States-Connecticut-WindsorJob Number: 1902700The Hartford Global Specialty (HGS) CommercialAuto team handles all aspects of both litigated and non-litigated commercialmonoline auto claims, including claims relating to bodily injury and propertydamage which may be complex. The SeniorClaim Representative is accountable for delivering superior customer serviceand successfully investigating, reserving, recommending and implementingstrategies to resolve claims consistent with corporate claim standards,policies and procedures and statutory, regulatory and ethics requirements.Responsibilities
ProvideBest in Class Customer Service including keeping the insured’s and others fullyinformed of the status of the claims and litigation
Handles all aspects of litigated andnon-litigated commercial monoline auto claims including claims relating tobodily injury and property damage.
Interfaces and interacts with insured’s,senior claim management, underwriters, and insurance brokers.
Making coverage determinations and communicating writtenposition(s) to insured's and other required parties.
Conducting investigations and analyzing and evaluating theinformation learned.
Documenting claim file appropriately.
Identify mitigation, subrogation and other recovery opportunitiesand pursue as appropriate
Within prescribed authority levels, setting appropriate expenseand indemnity reserves and monitoring on a regular basis for any neededadjustment.
Presenting cases to management for expense or indemnity reserveauthority above established authority levels.
Developing, implementing and negotiating resolution strategies toachieve high quality outcome.
Proactively managing litigation and counsel, inclusive oflitigation planning and execution, budgeting and bill review.
Attendingtrials, mediations and settlement conferences as necessary
Qualifications:
State adjuster license(s) required.
5 years of experience adjusting Commercial Auto insurance claims, with a particular emphasis on truck exposures preferred
Experience with issues unique to the trucking industry and insurance including knowledge of trailer interchange, sub-haulers, owner/operator and independent contractor issues
Experience must include managing claim litigation and a demonstrated ability to apply Commercial Auto policy terms and conditions to claim-specific issues.
Knowledge of insurance legal concepts, principles and regulatory requirements, by state, is required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent strategic thinking ability and execution skills
Excellent negotiation and advanced technical claim handling skills, including knowledge of coverage and tort laws
An ability to communicate thoughts clearly and concisely, and to influence and persuade others
Superior interpersonal skills
Strong computer proficiency in utilizing software programs
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, is required.
Travel is required to attend mediations and settlement conferences.
What else can you tell me about this role?
This position will report to the Eastern General Liability & Auto Litigation Claim Center located in Windsor, CT and will handle claims countrywide. Remote work may be available to qualified candidates.
