Put your talents to work at Coherent where you can create and innovate enabling technologies that will push the frontiers of science and technology.The East Granby, CT team is seeking a Manufacturing Technician for Coil Winding in our Sensors group. This position is responsible for ensuring delicate optical fiber coils are precisely shaped by machinery and requires sustained attention to minute detail. The team works together in a controlled environment that requires gowning. Specific responsibilities include:

Manufacture optical fiber coils for use in gyroscopes

Start and run computer controlled machines/equipment

Work per standard operation procedures

Document the manufacturing process as required

Inspect parts/coils under microscope

Perform basic fiber test to coil packs

Perform basic equipment maintenance

Troubleshoot equipment as needed

Assist engineers as needed

Cross-training in other areas as needed

The job requires access to defense articles and related technical data subject to the International Traffic and Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) 22 C.F.R. §§ 120-130. Therefore applicants must be U.S. persons as the term is defined in ITAR § 120.15.Education and Work Experience:Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent

Previous experience or practice executing delicate tasks with small, fragile parts such as in fiber coil winding (ideal) or other work/activities such as watch/jewelry making or repairs

Computer literacy including data entry in Excel

Ability to see details at close range

Excellent hand to eye coordination

Must be a U.S. citizen

Desired Qualifications:

Optical fiber coiling or handling experience

Experience with inspection or working with precision under microscope

Process documentation experience
