With the resources to pursue large scale endeavors, we continue to recognize and encourage each person’s ability to create significant change.Under general direction of the Manager of Contracts & Proposals, the Senior Cost Estimator is responsible for preparing price proposals, estimates, analysis, and other projected cost data required for company programs. The Senior Cost Estimator oversees and assumes responsibility for the entire preparation of cost proposals, supporting data for any one or a combination of the following: the development and production of complete aircraft, subcontract, systems, the development and production of non-aircraft products; research and development programs; overhaul, publications, and/or spare parts; contract price redetermination. Oversight of Proposals

Prepares price proposal data in a responsible and professional manner, providing maximum visibility to all technical and financial data.

Measures projections parametrically and/or by whatever means are available.

Develops milestones with operating departments depicting scheduling of support data submittal. Retains complete, orderly, and auditable files.

Coordinates preparation of proposals with engineering, contract administration, manufacturing, and other organization areas concerned, giving attention to the continual improvement of procedures and practices which will facilitate the exchange of information.

Assist in contract negotiations, on regular basis, accompanying contracts personnel to explain, discuss and/or justify bid.

Prepares a detail bill of material. Requests for quotations (with sufficient definition) for all outside services and material dollars.

Diagnose troubled areas; take or recommend corrective action. Investigate and report any unusual changes or conditions, or serious slippages in commitment dates

Analysis of Proposals

Analyzes requirements of new assignments; plans, schedules, and assigns work within the group; provides coordination and technical guidance of activities.

Estimates the direct labor hours for all items on the bill of material that require direct labor effort.

Estimates and develops; production hours, tooling costs, engineering costs, quality costs, packaging costs, other costs, facilities costs, tooling and engineering sustaining ratios, inspection ratios, material allowance factors, program management, and configuration management.

Reviews work at various stages of completion to assure required progress toward meeting target dates and acceptable quality of completed work.

Recognizes potential problem situations; initiates or recommends action to prevent or resolve such situations.

Be cognizant of potentially useful or pertinent reports, schedules and data available in all other departments and maintain liaison to assure compliance with this requirement.

Additional Responsibilities

Upon final pricing establishment, prepares the final management presentation.

Assist in the development of less experienced cost estimating personnel through instruction, selective work assignments and other practical means as developed by the Manager of Contracts & Proposals.

Reviews work completed within the group for accuracy, completeness and feasibility assuring that presentations submitted to the supervisor are in final useable form.

Notifies all support functions of impending work requirement and includes copies of milestone charts with required due dates and activity time frames.

7-10 years experience as a Cost Estimator or similar role.

Capable of completing a bottoms up (grass roots) estimate and/or making a parametric estimate to support the direct labor hours required by a proposal.

Broad knowledge of aerospace estimating techniques and a thorough understanding of engineering, manufacturing and other related operations; working knowledge of cost accounting systems and of government contract requirements affecting pricing and cost reimbursement.

Profiecient experience with microsoft office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).
