Your OpportunityThe Schwab Asset Management Solutions (SAMS) Technology Business Analysis & Planning team support Schwab business goals through operational management of SAMS Technology. Our team manages strategy and planning, governance and communication as well as budget, workforce and project management, essentially running the Technology Team as a business. Our team collaborates across a matrixed organization to deliver business value through efficient, disciplined and predictable project execution of effective solutions to business problems and opportunities. This position will be based out of the Denver Lone Tree office.What you’re good atThe role will have several components to it, and the ideal candidate should be able to adapt to varying job responsibilities based on the following:Strategic Planning
Support strategy and planning exercises across the SAMS Technology Department
Assist with any ad hoc/fire-drills associated with strategy
Own SAMS Technology Strategic Roadmap
Working with SAMS Technology CIO, coordinate yearly refresh of roadmap
Help refine any changes in direction due to business needs
Coordinate updates based ontimelyfeedback from contributors
As necessary present updates in Business/Technology Leadership meetings
Business Processes
Setup, update, and modify governance frameworks and processes as environment changes necessitate.
Ensure all processes are appropriately reviewed, feedback is solicited & updated, and published
All documentation including departmental policies and procedures, are updated in SharePoint or Confluence
Maintenance and update of SAMS Technology Project Management Framework in conjunction with our team members and Project Services to ensure alignment with Corporate Standards
Participation in Agile Process updates
Reporting
Facilitate professional and consistent communication with those outside and inside our organization
Assist in authoring, contributor review, and publishing of various status reports.
Status reports will have differing audiences, so role should be adept in tailoring communication to specific audiences
Technical Project Management/Scrum Master:Although the main job responsibilities are not those of a scrum master or project manager, all members of the Strategy & Planning Team are expected to be able to PM/SM a project if needed.
Manage business and technical deliverables to the project budget and timeline throughout the various project phases
Interface with scrum team and participate in scrum ceremonies ( See Scrum Master section below)
Author project status updates on various status reports
Identify and document the roles, tasks, and responsibilities of the project team
Surface any project risks or issues
Financial oversight for the Project Budgets
Scrum Master as needed on several SAMS Investments Technology initiatives
Ensure that Scrum implementation is aligned with Schwab Agile Program based directly on The Scrum Guide.
Servant-leader for the Scrum Team
Lead a Scrum Team to perform planning, development and testing
Facilitate, as needed, all Scrum related activities including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Retrospective, Sprint Review and refinement activities.
Actively interface with Product Owners to facilitate effective Backlog Management and Sprint activities
What you have
Project Management skills:
5 or more years strong technical project management experience with demonstrated ability to drive projects to successful completion
Experience creating project plans, budgets, etc and the effective management of project budgets.
Solid experience and understanding of Agile Scrum
Proven ability to build strong partnerships across business and technology teams
Ability to identify stakeholders, assess their needs and manage their expectations through effective communication.
Experience in dealing with different levels of an organization from developers up to executives
Scrum Master Skills
3 or more years demonstrated scrum master experience ideally on Investment Management software development projects
Professional Scrum Master (PSM), Certified Scrum Practitioner (CSP) or Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification preferred
Strong knowledge of JIRA or equivalent
Reporting:
Strong knowledge and experience in using Excel and creating PowerPoint Presentations of high professional quality
Proven ability to tailor presentation contents/messages to the target audience
Good experience in giving presentations to various levels within an organization
