Are you a creative thinker and problem solver?If this describes you, come join our team as our next Propulsion Engineer!You will be responsible for propulsion component engineering activities, including requirements allocation, concept evaluations, trade studies, analyses, materials evaluations, and other assessments as required. Support will also be provided to producibility studies, cost trades, design for long term operations and maintenance, and all necessary development planning activities. These responsibilities will be applied to multiple propulsion components necessary for successful propulsion subsystem operation.You will work closely with propulsion and systems engineering, manufacturing and technical management and will be responsible for providing component engineering technical oversight and solutions and be responsible for engineering documentation, assembly and test support, manufacturing and test anomaly/discrepancy resolution support, and support of cross-discipline product development.Specific tasks and responsibilities that you will be responsible for will include the following: Independently develop and provide design solutions, of varying complexity, using solid models, detailed drawings, and release of engineering work products. Independently review requirements, from various sources (instrumentation, dynamics, stress, systems, thermal, manufacturing, etc.) to ensure that applicable requirements are flowed into the detailed design of assigned products. Provide frequent interaction and Support collaboration with program leadership, analysts, subject matter experts, peers, configuration management, and manufacturing, to ensure program requirements and schedules are met. Contribute to the completion of Program milestones by the release of accurate, error-free, affordable and producible engineering designs. Support Production meetings and manufacturing & test anomaly/discrepancy resolution Independently performing budget tracking, task planning and providing timely statusYour duties will include responsibility for the design, manufacture, procurement and test for the propulsion system components and assemblies.This job requires coordinating with customers, suppliers, test facilities, and other related disciplines including manufacturing, subcontracts, quality, analysis, systems engineering, and integration with affected subsystems and facilities. Other duties may include: Subsystem Integration lead the conceptual development, requirements definition, and design of propulsion components Perform trade studies to select the appropriate design solution Develop product performance specifications, statements of work, and supplier data requirements for components Maintain engineering drawings, specifications, and technical analyses necessary to support systems and components Provide requirements flow-down, verification, and maintain technical baseline at the suppliers Evaluate, select, and then manage the technical aspects of the procurement from the selected hardware supplierBasic Qualifications:Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. Considered career, or journey, level. Knowledge of Requirement development and management Proficiency with standard documentation and presentation tools Solid understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals Demonstrated Mechanical engineering or design experience Excellent verbal/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with technical and non-technical audiences Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments and customers, simultaneously and independentlyDesired Skills: Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts, in the field. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with adjacent disciplines (systems engineering, electronics, stress/thermal analysis, configuration management, production, test, quality…) Hands-on hardware experience Experience with Requirement development and management Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Fast learner with good problem-solving abilities Experience deriving & developing requirements from Proposal documents or Work Authorizations Experience developing Proposal documents and Basis of Estimates (BOE’s) Additive manufacturing experience Familiar with design for Manufacturability (DFM) Flight Hardware Design experience Familiarity with budget/schedule planning Capable of 1st order analysis in fluids, statics and dynamics, heat transfer/ thermal Proficiency in industry standard CAD (Creo, Catia, AutoCad) software Proficiency in industry standard fluids, structural and thermal analysis softwareIt is highly desirable to have the following additional skills: Demonstrated experience with supply chain management and subcontracts Experience having responsibility for Mechanical hardware and systems Experience with requirement definition, documentation and verification Fluid Mechanics and analysis Propulsion component development and system integration Excellent organizational skills Proven desire and ability to own technical challenges through solution Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
