A little side note, tirade, whatever you want to call it. If you change jobs every 60-90 days, please don't waste your time. There are plenty of bottom-feeding-companies out there who would love to tell you the lies you want to hear and you know aren't trueBut you keep tricking yourself saying "it's for REAL this time!" and then blaming the industry, other drivers anyone but yourself.

If you worked for 10+ bad companies in the last 5 years, what is the one constant thing? You.

Come on. You know what the warning signs are, you know when something sounds too good to be true. SO QUIT DOING IT!

I know there are scum bag companies out there, but its not all of us, there are plenty of honest, hard working trucking companies out there and it's SOOOOO easy to tell them apart just by their ads and professionalism! They are the ones not flashing gigantic starting pay numbers. They are the ones asking you to 'earn it' with them. They are the ones focused on safety and not fantasy numbers. They offer benefits and don't try to appeal to your greed with 1099s or rip-off Lease-Purchase programs. They are the ones who haven't resorted to bribes, I mean, 'sign-on-bonuses', to lure in drivers. They are the ones who actually pay detention, layover, break-down pay without complaint because they haven't 'borrowed' from those funds to artifically raise their CPM for the trucking ads. You have to protect yourself- big business and shady outfits aren't out there to help you. They think you are stupid, and since their BS ads and tactics keep working, they have no reason not to.

You know better than to send your bank account info to a email scammer pretending to be an African Prince, so quit falling for obvious trucking scams. You need a company that is big enough to pay its bills, small enough to know your name, and smart enough to work with the industry's 3% margins while staying profitable.

You aren't going to be a millionaire working as a company driver. Heck, you aren't going to do that unless you own an entire fleet of trucks and can pinch pennies like Scrooge for a decade while keeping all your trucks fueled, running and certified. But trucking is a very nice paying job.

The average American Household makes $56,000 per year. For many, that's two incomes combined, some with college degrees!

The average OTR driver makes more than the average American Household - that is a fact. If you aren't making more than $56,000 as an OTR/Regional Truck driver - what are YOU doing? Local Drivers are bringing in at least $1000 per week. If you only run 2400 miles per week at .46 CPM, you'll make $57,000+!

Now, you aren't going to walk in the door at some unknown trucking company (esp with that work history) making $90,000 a year right out the gate! Quit falling for the "quick money" BS. (Or I can hook you up with my neighbor, she'll tell you all about her AMWAY-like thing that will make you super wealthy!) Put in your time, earn some trust and respect, and after 3-4-5 years, you will be one of the $80,000-$90,000-$100,000 per year drivers. Every company with more than 25 drivers has a few. But you have to be flexible, professional, and not have a luandry list of stuff you don't do or places you don't go. You know who gets the top money? Not the drivers who whine about going to certain cities or regions or night driving or chains( And yes, we believe chains are to get you OUT of a situation, not deeper into one) The drivers that can always be depended on to do what the company needs to save a load, save a customer, win a contract they get all the best loads and the most money. Period. Be dependable, be reliable, be loyal - and if you can do that for a few years (not just that one time thing you did that you always complain about) you'll be the driver that can't afford to let go.

Rant Over. If you made it this far, I think you know what to do. And Driver, I believe in you, and I know you can do it. Our company is proof of that everyday.
