Job Description

  • Manage good ranch conditions and animal husbandry practices to assure optimum bird health and growth. Ensure that ranch crew follows all best management practices and animals welfare issues. Comply with bio-security and disease prevention programs. Maintain good sanitation, rodent control and weed program.
  • Responsible for assuring proper clean out procedure guidelines are followed in accordance with Foster Farms program and bio-security policies.
  • Coordinate with field supervisor all schedules for placement, poult move and clean out brooder barns and grow outs.
  • Schedule and order feed (feed inventory) for all ranches on complex.
  • Report morality records for all ranches.
  • Responsible for all safety and bio-security training of complex employees.
  • Aid in the training of ranch personnel.
  • Maintain a fair and solid relationship with all reporting employees, as well as upper management.
  • Strive for an excellent safety record. Be concerned with the welfare of all company employees.
  • Scheduling of employees for daily requirements. The schedule changes are according to the needs of the birds, which will require everyone on the ranch to be flexible. In the case of absent workers, quick decision making is needed to cover the work.
  • Make daily adjustments in the barns ventilation to maintain optimum conditions for the birds.

Qualifications

  • Must have one to two (1-2) years in a live poultry environment
  • Prior experience supervising employees is preferred
  • Must be able to live on company-provided housing and respond to adverse conditions affecting the turkeys any time of the day or night
  • Must have good interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Must be able to operate various types of farm equipment
  • Must have good mathematical skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English, which includes reading and writing
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, push and pull
  • Must be able to work in a dusty environment
  • Must be able to work a varied schedule
  • Must be able to submit and pass a criminal background check
  • Supervises 9 hourly employees
